Caution with Food Choice:

Years ago food was sold fresh, lots of colorful vegetables with access to fish and meat markets. Recently a 5 year old stated- food comes in a box or package ! Cooking from scratch, using a variety of herbs and spices was the norm and eating out in restaurants was rare.


If you purchase a food product in a package, can etc., it is of the utmost importance to check the ingredients on the label. Be particular regarding choices; scrutinize every item in the product. For example avoid items with MSG and other chemicals that might be harmful as well as added colors unless they are from a natural source, such as beets or other colorful vegetables. Fast Foods are infiltrated with chemicals, some of which cause intestinal distress in addition to other health problems such as High Blood Pressure from excessive salt. It is important to carefully look at the ingredient list. We are vulnerable but the choice is ours. It is time to enhance our health status. Nutrition supports our Immune system and improves our overall health.




An interesting book I recommend is “What Color is your Diet” by David Heber, MD, Ph.D. Director of UCLA Center for Human Nutrition.
